The Essential Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Guide
Annapurna Base Camp is situated in the Annapurna Sanctuary National Park.Many agencies of Pokhara organise this Annapurna Base Camp trek. The base of the trek is situated at an altitude of 4,100 metres. If you have that energy level,fitness level and potential then you can definitely reach your destination.The average trek is not very difficult, but you should prepare yourself moderately fit.After all,you are trekking through the great Himalayan region. The base camp is surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the world such as the Annapurna I that is 8,091 metres, the Annapurna II that is 7,219 metres, Machhapuchhre is 6,993 metres nd Hiunchuli which is 6,441 metres.
How To Reach At Pokhara:
By Road-
There are buses available from Sunauli and from Kathmandu. Local buses are available at the new bus stand in Kathmandu. Luxury tourist buses are available at the tourist bus station. You can also take buses from Kantipath. From Kantipath all buses leave at 7 am. These buses will take 6 hours to reach Pokhara.
By Air-
One can take a direct flight from New Delhi.You can also take flight from other major cities to Kathmandu.Then you can take another flight to Pokhara directly.
Permits:
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit(ACAP):
While entering the Annapurna Conservation area, trekkers will need a permit.These all permits are arranged by the trekking provider.This ABC is not an expensive trek in Nepal.
Trekkers Information Management System(TIMS):
The cost is NRS 2000 to 3000 per person. The cost equals 15 EUR or 17 USD.This permit is also very important for every hiker who is wishing to hike in this place.
Trekking Route:
Day 1
Kathmandu to Pokhara:
The ABC trek starts from many villages which are close to Pokhara. Arriving at Pokhara you need to stay here at night.
Day 2
Pokhara to Kande then Ghandruk:
You can arrive at Kande from Pokhara by taking buses or taxi.You can also take a bus to Nayapul. Then your trek will be downhill to Birethanti by crossing a suspension bridge that is built over the Burundi river. In Birethanti you will sign some formalities with the forest authorities.
Following this route you need to head towards the Ghandruk.Trek to Ghandruk is basically a flat trail. On the trail you can enjoy the lush greenery forests,chirping of some small birds,and the peaceful environment.Spend the night at a lodge of Ghandruk.
Day 3
Ghandruk to Sinuwa:
On the next day you need to leave the Ghandruk village and head towards Sinuwa.The total distance is 12 kilometres. It can be covered within 4 to 5 hours of walking. You will see many boulders here. The trail becomes a little steeper till you reach the Gurung Village by crossing the Jhinu Danda. At Jhinu Danda you can enjoy the natural hot spring and this is splendid.Take a dip into the hot spring. It will wash your tiredness.Then you need to cross another suspension bridge over the Chhomrong river.Near Chhomrong river there is a very steep ascent from this bridge to Chhomrong so, be careful here. After arriving at the lower Sinuwa stay overnight here.
Day 4
Sinuwa to Deurali:
The total distance of Sinuwa to Deurali is 14 kilometres.One can complete this total distance in 4 hours.Start your trekking from Sinuwa to Kuldhar.This day you will go through many ups and downs.At this trail a staircase made of stone will take you to the Dobhan through a suspension bridge.On this route you can experience forests of rhododendron, Oak forest and bamboo forest.After trekking through this part you will be reaching to your location,Deurali.
Day 5
Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp:
On this day you will begin your trek towards the amazing Annapurna Base Camp which will give you such a great trekking experience.
A simple walk along the river Modi will take you to the Bagar.Bagar is the starting point of the Machhapuchhre base camp trekking. Spend some beautiful moments here then you need to head towards the Annapurna Base Camp.
After trekking or hiking a little bit you will reach the base camp of the Annapurna.On a clear sunny day you will have a 360 degree view of some of the highest mountains in the world. This experience will be unforgettable.The mountain Annapurna is the home to 102 mammals,1226 species of plants, 474 birds.Overnight at a camp of Annapurna Base Camp will be an unforgettable experience of someone’s life.
